Administration
Our Patrol Division consists of 21 sworn personal, 4 Lieutenants, and 17 Deputies. We patrol the approximately 900 square miles of Lincoln County. Duties consist of but are not limited to; Traffic Enforcement, Traffic Investigation, Criminal Law Enforcement, and Criminal Investigation. All of the members of the Patrol Division are uniformed and under most circumstances, will be driving a marked Lincoln County Sheriff's Department vehicle. In order to provide services for our citizens, and our friends passing through, we have several different types of vehicle that we patrol with. One deputy is assigned to the position of Recreational Deputy, and another is assigned to Court Services.
Our Detective Bureau, consists of 5 sworn personal, 1 Lieutenant, and 4 Sergeant Investigator. Their main focus is the investigation of criminal offenses that require more time to investigate than what the patrol deputies are afforded. All criminal cases are forwarded to the Detective Bureau from Patrol. A part of the Detective Bureau is our Special Investigations Unit. The focus there is Illegal Drugs. Crime Prevention is another aspect of law enforcement that our Detective Bureau handles, along with the Neighborhood Watch Program.
One Patrol Deputy, is assigned to the position of Recreational Deputy. His primary job responsibilities include Snowmobile, ATV, and Boating Enforcement, along with the investigation of Timber theft, and enforcement in the county parks and forests. He works closely with the Wisconsin DNR and with the Lincoln County Forestry Department in carrying out his duties.
